Camilla Padgitt-Coles, Video still from Disco Nap, Multimedia Installation, 2024.
Disco Nap emerged as a means to capture the essence of dreams upon awakening. Faced with indecipherable handwriting, the artist turned to creating "video drawings" based on these mysterious squiggles.
Having worked with lighting for underground dance parties, Padgitt-Coles draws parallels between the dream realm and the intimate sanctuaries found in nightlife—an unspoken liminal world experienced under the cover of night and early morning.
Disco Nap aims to offer visitors a moment of pause, inviting dream-like introspection or a serene liminal space following a night of revelry.
