For over 10 years, Essex Flowers has served as an experimental exhibition venue with a focus on emerging and underrepresented artists, a space for curatorial perspectives outside of the commercial and institutional framework of the art world. Along with other artist-run gallery spaces in the city, our project seeks to create an alternative, community-driven model, with space for the strange, the underrepresented, the unsellable and unsold. The gallery has exhibited hundreds of artists and hosted numerous performances, readings and other public events.
Essex Flowers is operated and financially supported by its artist members. We believe in our project and will continue to invest in it, but we need your help. If you like what we do and would like to acquire a new piece for your collection, we are requesting your participation in an auction, featuring works selected by current members.
Proceeds will go towards funding Essex Flowers operations, including space rental and artist-lead programming. A portion of proceeds will be donated to Doctors Without Borders.
The auction will be conducted through Basta, a new e-commerce integration platform. Works will also be on view and available to bid on in the gallery. Purchased work will be available for pick-up on Sunday, December 17th, 1–5pm. Shipping of work can be arranged as required for an additional cost.
